Matthew 25 Ministries

Our parish strives to serve those in need through the various ministries.

The Prayer Shawl Ministry meets in the lower hall at Sacred Heart Church on the first Wednesday of each month from 1-2 pm. Hand-crocheted and knitted shawls, baby hats, and blankets are welcome to be donated for Project Rachel, Friends of the Unborn, and parishioners who are homebound or in our local nursing homes.

Senior Dinner & Movie Nights:  Usually on the third Saturday of the month, following the 4:00 pm liturgy at Sacred Heart Church, dinner is served to over 100 senior citizens. The after-dinner movie is usually a classic film.  Volunteers and families from both parishes provide food or serve dinner.

The Inn at Sacred Heart will be opening later this year. Many, many volunteers will be needed to ensure the success of this new outreach. Watch this space for upcoming service opportunities.

Baptismal Robes/Altar Cloths: Every week, volunteers wash the towels used in liturgical rites and regularly wash and iron altar cloths. Throughout the year, volunteers also create garments used in Baptism.

Holy Family Vocation Teams: One of the pillars of the Archdiocese Pastoral Plan is an increase in vocations. Our parish thrives in response to this call is The Holy Family Vocation Prayer. Each Sunday, a family returns the Holy Family statue which they have had at home for the past week, as a reminder to pray daily for an increase of vocations. After Mass, another family takes the statue into their home to pray for vocation.

Praying the Rosary at our local Nursing Homes:
Many of our parishioners visit local nursing homes to pray the Rosary with the residents there but we are always hoping that more volunteers will join this outreach because our collaborative is responsible for the spiritual needs of residents in six nursing homes.

Praying the Rosary and Visiting the Homebound:
There is a need for parishioners to visit those who are homebound, parishioners who are often longing for prayer companions.
